Press Release:

The wine industry is considered the second driving force in South African tourism (after safaris). In light of this fact, we tried to understand how the tourists (whether local or international) were choosing the wineries they were wishing to visit.

“Shall I find chardonnay in that estate? Is it open on Sundays? Until what time? Must I book in advance? Can I go with my children, and will there be a playground for them? Is the style Cape Dutch, Mediterranean, modern? Is the tasting free? Do they propose organic wines? « …

So many questions that always emerge while chatting with visitors.

Our team, composed of wine lovers and hedonists, and coming from various horizons (Telecom, design, tourism) has therefore decided to come up with a simple tool, suitable for purists as well as newbies, and proposing an easy and intuitive navigation.

-          By area or wine routes (Franschhoek, Stellenbosh, Paarl, Robertson, Swartland…)

-          According to your party (Couple, Family, Friends)

-          By style (Cape Dutch, Design, Contemporary, Mediterranean,…)

-          By varietal or type (Chardonnay, Chenin, Shiraz, Merlot, Porto…)

-          By activities (museums, art galleries, cellar tours, wine safaris, spas …)

-          By time-slots (opening hours, closing dates,…)

It’s also easy to check if the estate offers catering options (restaurant, bistro, deli, picnic baskets,…) as well as handicapped facilities..

Products pages propose a description of the winery, and more specialized information for enlightened amateurs (varietals produced, name of the winemakers, date of creation, volume, …)

The integration of Social Media tools allow users to quickly share their comments on the wine estates (whether by mail, FabeBook, Twitter, Google+, YouTube, Diaspora…) either with us or friends.

Our blog will relay facts about the wine life, events, festivals, special and private tastings as well as anecdotes, …

The website is launched in English, and will be translated into French (end of December 2011) and later into German and Spanish (mid 2012).

Wine&Only is independent, free for users and winemakers, does not boast any advertisements. All the wineries are actually visited by our team, and new references are added on a weekly basis.

We hope to see you very soon on: www.wineandonly.com
